ABOUT THIS AREA

Hook Norton is best known for Hook Norton Brewery, founded in 1849 and recognised as an important architectural example of a Victorian tower brewery, complete with a still-working Victorian steam engine — a genuinely rare survival nationally. The village itself sits close to the Cotswold Hills, a few miles northeast of Chipping Norton.

The village also has industrial history beyond the brewery — the Brymbo Ironworks operated here with its own narrow-gauge railway until closing in 1946, though little of this remains visible today.
