Not sure which survey you need?

Answer a few quick questions and we will tell you exactly which survey is right for your property.

OUR PROCESS

How booking a survey with us works

Tell us about the property

A quick call or online form — the address, property type, and your timeline is all we need to get started.

This is also where we confirm which survey is right for the property — a standard Level 2 for a typical home in reasonable condition, or a Level 3 for anything older, listed, or structurally unusual. If you’re not sure which applies, tell us what you know and we’ll advise honestly.

We match you with the right surveyor

We match your property to a RICS-qualified surveyor with relevant local and technical experience. You’ll get a confirmed inspection date.

The inspection

Your surveyor works through the property systematically: roof space, main structure, visible services, damp readings, and every accessible room, photographing anything notable along the way.

Your report

You receive a comprehensive written report with traffic light condition ratings, a full description of construction and materials, defect analysis with probable causes, repair recommendations, risk summaries, energy commentary and if anything raises questions, your surveyor is available afterwards by phone to walk you through it.

Ongoing support if you need it

If you need clarification on a specific finding or help explaining the report to your solicitor, your surveyor remains available well after delivery — not just on the day it’s issued.

RICS Survey Oxfordshire FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the property’s age and construction more than its location specifically — though Oxfordshire has local factors worth knowing. Cotswold-edge villages in West Oxfordshire often have older stone construction better suited to a Building Survey, while more standard 20th-century housing around Bicester or Kidlington usually suits a RICS Level 2 Survey well. Contact us and We’ll recommend once we know the specific property.

Yes, in parts of the county specifically — areas like Wolvercote, Osney Island, and villages along the Thames and Cherwell floodplains have, documented flood history. For properties in these areas, we’d usually recommend a Building Survey, since it allows a proper assessment of any damp or ground-level findings against that specific flood risk context, rather than treating a finding in isolation.

Not directly — conservation status doesn’t change which survey level applies, but it’s genuinely relevant to what we look for. Villages like Burford, Charlbury, and large parts of central Oxford (Jericho, Iffley) sit within conservation areas with real restrictions on alterations, which is exactly the kind of local detail a Building Survey investigates properly.

Yes — an independent market valuation can be added to either a Level 2 or Building Survey for an additional fee, useful anywhere in the county but particularly common in higher-value areas like Summertown, Henley-on-Thames, and parts of North Oxford.

Yes — Help to Buy valuations are available across all our Oxfordshire coverage, including Bicester, Banbury, Didcot, and Oxford itself, all areas that have seen significant new-build development in recent years.
